A BRIEF HISTORY OF:
Design Manufacturing Specialists
Architectural Aluminium systems
(Authorised KAWNEER installing dealer)
A chance meeting of two ex Heywood Williams draughtsmen whilst walking their dogs around the estate where they both lived, was the start for Mr Peter Taylor and
Mr John Evans and the company: Aldford Aluminium Products.
Both were making windows and doors at home for friends and family and realised that joining forces would be of benefit.
To begin: with the help the Grosvenor Estate Manager, a building was sourced at Bank Farm (a redundant farm building) on the Grosvenor Estate. It was at this point that the business was established - on a part-time basis in 1980.
After three years of becoming busier and obtaining more and more work, the two partners decided it was time to resign from their permanent jobs and to take on the business on a full-time basis. At this point, A.A.P. also were appointed as an authorised Kawneer dealer.
Larger premises were sought and staff employed to cope with the ever increasing workload. In 1983, the business was re-located to larger premises at Glebe Building officially opened by His Grace The Duke of Westminster, where the business is as of today’s date, still located. A number of local men were employed and are still with the Company at this time. In 1991 both partners realised retirement was around the corner for them and the decision to safe guard the company’s future was undertaken. The introduction of a third partner was sought; Mr Keith Pollard joined the company bringing with him his well established fixing team which gave A.A.P. a total in-house operation.
In 1998 both Mr J Evans and Mr P Taylor retired and so the third junior partner, Mr K Pollard became the sole proprietor. Both ex-partners still actively “lend-a-hand” as and when required to help in the pursuit and breakdown of work.
The present work force consists of:
Mr Keith Pollard – Proprietor
Three full-time window/door fitters
Four full-time window/door fabricators
One part-time Secretary
The company is still extremely busy, work obtained by recommendation only. In April of 2002, A.A.P. became a FENSA registered company to comply with new Building Regulations.
All in-house manufactured items and installations are covered by our comprehensive 10 year guarantee and it is Company Policy not to take deposits on any of the domestic installations.
The work currently undertaken consists of the installation of Harmony System composite white or brown powder painted aluminium/upvc windows and doors in addition to the various Kawneer Systems both commercially and residentially.
A.A.P. carries out domestic installations mainly locally, however, there have in the past been some jobs that have been more significant ie: Albert Dock – apartments,
E. A. Technology (formerly ERDC) – approx. 500 windows, Bangor Police Traffic Base, Tower Hamlets, London and Heathrow Airport offices to name but a few!
And, of course, carrying out repairs or installations around the Grosvenor Estate including replacing the roof at the Eaton Hall Riding School.
